Exclusive Sullivan Stapleton Interview - Questions from Fans!

On 20th October, Sully was due to do a live Q&A on HBO, but due to tech problems it was cancelled - the cool guy that he is, meant he offered to answers fans' questions on Sullivan Stapleton's Fans Page on Facebook (the page is run by fans, not affiliated with Sullivan Stapleton, though he has 'liked' the page!) News Update on 'Cut Snake'

Tony Ayres, the director of Walking on Water and The Home Song Stories and recent TV works The Slap and Underground: The Julian Assange Story, will return to the big screen for the feature film Cut Snake.

         Animal Kingdom's Sullivan Stapleton will lead an ensemble including Chronicle's Alex Russell and Arrow's Jessica De Gouw in the crime thriller written by Trevor Blainey (The Time of Our Lives and The Straits). Blainey and one of Ayres's partners at Matchbox Pictures, Michael McMahon, will produce the period drama. It will premiere at next year's Melbourne International Film Festival. Full story here.

Sullivan Stapleton Receives Breakthrough Award

Australia's touted next big thing in Hollywood, Sullivan Stapleton, along with double Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver and Down Under film collective Blue-Tongue Films are to be honoured in Los Angeles.

              Stapleton, Weaver and Blue-Tongue, which includes Joel and Nash Edgerton, Spencer Susser, Luke Doolan, Mirrah Foulkes, and David Michod, will receive Breakthrough Awards by LA-based non-profit organisation Australians in Film (AIF) at a reception on October 24.

            "Being recognised by this organisation of LA-based Australian peers is a humbling and memorable career moment," said Melbourne-born Stapleton, 36, who will star in 300: Rise of an Empire, the sequel to the 2007 blockbuster movie 300.

Comic Con 2013

Sully appeared at Comic Con 2013 as part of the Strike Back and 300 Rise of an Empire cast. There are heaps of interview videos, articles and images online for your viewing pleasure! We've learnt that Scott is growing up in 'Strike Back Shadow Warfare' and that Scott and Stonebridge have a holiday together - our favourite bromance just keeps getting better! There's loads of hype for '300 Rise of an Empire' and the official movie trailer has been released on You Tube. Check out the gallery page to view some of these videos. Strike Back News

US Season 3 (UK Season 4) of Strike Back will air on 9th August 2013 in the US (UK date TBC). The new season is called 'Strike Back: Shadow Warfare' and has 10 episodes of high-octane action with new actors joining the cast, including Robson Green, Dougray Scott and Martin Clunes. Strike Back Cast Return to Comic Con 2013

Scott and Stonebridge are coming back to San Diego! The Hollywood Reporter has updated its master list of TV shows on San Diego Comic-Con International’s programming schedule; which includes confirmation that Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton will make return appearances on Saturday, July 20 for a “Strike Back” panel. Joining Winchester and Stapleton are writer Michael J. Bassett.and season 3 guest stars Dougray Scott and Milauna Jackson. Read the full story here.

300 Rise of An Empire Delayed Release

We heard from the publicity department of Warner Bros. who confirmed that the release date of Rise of an Empire is now being released in March 2014 instead of 2nd August 2013. The reason is unknown. At least we have the new series of Strike Back to look forward to this Autumn still!

Robson Green, Dougray Scott And Milauna Jackson Join The Cast

NEW YORK, March 14th 2013 – Production is underway on the third season of HBO/CINEMAX’s breakout drama series STRIKE BACK, it was announced today by Kary Antholis, president of HBO Miniseries and CINEMAX Programming. CINEMAX teams up once again with the production company Left Bank Pictures and the British channel Sky for the ten-episode season, which is shooting on location in South Africa and Hungary,and debuts on the network this summer.

Philip Winchester (“Crusoe,” “Camelot”) and Sullivan Stapleton (“Animal Kingdom,” the upcoming “300: Rise of an Empire”) reprise their onscreen partnership as counterterrorism operatives Sgt. Michael Stonebridge and Sgt. Damien Scott in the third season.

The returning cast also includes Rhona Mitra (“Underworld: Rise of the Lycans”) as Maj. Rachel Dalton, Michelle Lukes (“Alexander”) as Sgt. Julia Richmond and Liam Garrigan (“Pillars of the Earth”) as Sgt. Liam Baxter.
New cast members includes Robson Green (“Wire in the Blood”) as a new member of Section 20, Dougray Scott (“Desperate Housewives”) as rogue operative James Leatherby and Milauna Jackson (“Blood Done Sign My Name”) as a key player who crosses paths with the counterterrorism team.
Returning directors are Michael J. Bassett (who also serves as co-executive producer), Julian Holmes and Paul Wilmshurst; returning writers are Simon Burke, JamesDormer, John Simpson and Richard Zajdlic.

 

In STRIKE BACK’s third season, counterterrorism unit Section 20 pursues a
deadly terrorist network from Colombia to Beirut to Europe, uncovering deadly plots that reach to the West. As in previous seasons, the production utilizes consultants who work in the field of counterterrorism to add to the authenticity of the series, providing essential background on stories, characters, training and settings.

The second season of the show made its world premiere at Comic-Con in July
2012 and featured the world premiere of two new Bob Dylan songs. The series received an Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Main Title Design for its first season, which launched in 2011. STRIKE BACK was the first original primetime series on CINEMAX in more than 15 years. The Los Angeles Times described the show as “a buddy movie, a simmering life-or-death bromance between its two male leads,” while AOL TV observed, “The heart of the show is the relationship between Scott and Stonebridge,” calling them “two peas in a badass pod,” and the Huffington Post hailed Stapleton and Winchester as a “dynamic team.”

Seven years after Gerard Butler's King Leonidas spurred his 300 Spartan soldiers on to glory in 300 (and on to a $456 million worldwide box office), the companion film 300: Rise of an Empirewill explore a similar theme when it hits theaters Aug. 2. Though Empire takes place at the same time as the first film, the setting is now a sea battle against an overwhelming Persian fleet. "It's not a prequel or a sequel," says director Noam Murro. "It's a different perspective and characters in the the battle between the Persians and the Greeks."  Full story here.

Ryan Kwanten And Sullivan Stapleton Will Set The Dance Floor On Fire In Cut Snake ...​

Aussie actors Ryan Kwanten and Sullivan Stapleton have both garnered notice in the United States, the former for his pulse-raising role as the dopey but sexy Jason Stackhouse on True Blood, the latter as one of the dangerous Cody clan in the Oscar-nominated drama Animal Kingdom. Full story here.

Strike Back 4 Confirmed​

Emmy nominated hit action series Strike Back will return to Sky 1 HD in 2013 for an explosive fourth series made up of ten brand new episodes, shot on location in South Africa and Hungary. Due to plot spoilers for upcoming episodes, the cast members for Season 4 will be announced at a later date, but we can tell you that the fourth series will once again be a co-production between Sky and Cinemax/HBO and will be produced by Left Bank Pictures. Sully Auditions for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

The search continues for the perfect actor to fill the role of Peter Quill a.k.a. Starlord in Marvel and Disney Pictures’ “Guardians of the Galaxy.”  Joel Edgerton, Eddie Redmayne, Lee Pace, Jack Huston, Sullivan Stapleton, Garrett Hedlund, James Marsden, Jim Sturgess, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Rosenbaum, and John Krasinski have auditioned for the part.  In addition, Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell, and Cam Gigandet have read for the role.  This could be a ploy to draw attention to the film itself and give it some much needed publicity, since the “Guardians” is not considered to be one of Marvel’s most well-known books.
